This bread is an excellent addition to any soup, but it does require some patience to make. Don't worry, though - it's super easy and only requires a few simple ingredients! Give it time to rise, and you'll have some delicious, homemade bread in no time.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt

  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast

  • 1 teaspoon honey

  • 1 ½ cups room temperature water

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast, honey, and water and let it bloom.

  2. Mix in the flour and salt to form a slightly wet and scrappy dough. It may not look appetizing, but that's okay.

  3. Cover the mixing bowl with either a towel or plastic wrap and let it rest in a dark place at room temperature for 16-18 hours, slightly longer than overnight. ——

    to Bake:

  4. Place an open 6-quart cast iron Dutch oven in the oven and preheat it to 450F

  5. Flour your surface and dump your dough on it. Shape the dough into a ball and transfer it onto parchment paper. Cover with plastic and set aside.

  6. When the oven is heated to 450F, Remove the plastic, and transfer the dough with the parchment paper into the Dutch Oven. Bake, covered for 30 minutes.

  7. Remove the cover and bake for 5 more minutes, until the exterior is golden brown.

  8. Let the bread sit for 15 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
